Privacy policy

This privacy policy describes how AI Registry, run from Australia by its editor, collects, uses, stores and shares personal information. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988.

1. What we collect

  • Submission and claim forms. When you submit a company or claim a listing, we collect your name, email address, your role, the company details you provide, and your confirmation that you're authorised to act for the company.
  • Emails. If you email us, or we reply to a submission, we keep that correspondence.
  • Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address.
  • Site analytics. Google Analytics records which pages are visited, how people arrive, their approximate location, device type, and which outbound links they click, such as a company's website. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this (see section 4). We don't use it to identify individual visitors.

2. How we use it

  • To review submissions and claims, and to verify company details against public records.
  • To contact you about your submission, claim or listing.
  • To understand which pages are useful and how many visitors each listing sends to the company it lists.
  • To send the newsletter if you've subscribed.

We don't sell your information. We share it only with the services listed below, which process it on our behalf.

3. Services we use, and where your data is held

Most of these services are based in the United States, and so is our web server. Personal information you give us may therefore be stored or processed outside Australia.

  • Web and email server: a virtual private server rented from InterServer, located in the United States. It serves the website and handles email to and from airegistry.com.au addresses.
  • Formspree (United States) receives submission and claim forms and forwards them to the editor's inbox.
  • Notion (United States) holds the listing database, including the details of companies that submit and the editor's verification notes.
  • Google Analytics (Google, United States) measures site traffic.
  • beehiiv (United States) manages newsletter sign-ups and sends the newsletter.

We choose services that encrypt data in transit, but we don't control how they store it. Their own privacy policies apply to the data they hold.

4. Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) to tell repeat visits apart. The newsletter sign-up form is provided by beehiiv and may set its own cookies. The site sets no advertising cookies.

There is no cookie banner. To opt out of analytics, you can block cookies in your browser or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.

5. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you can:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct it.
  • Ask us to delete it, subject to any legal requirement to keep it.
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au if you're not satisfied with our response.

Email editor@airegistry.com.au for any of these. We aim to reply within 30 days.

6. How long we keep it

Submission and claim details are kept while the listing is active and for two years after it is removed. Emails are kept for the same period. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.

7. Security

The site uses HTTPS throughout, and forms are sent over encrypted connections. Our mail server accepts logins only over encrypted connections. We don't collect or store payment information.

8. Children

This site is not directed at people under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
